traditional tapas tour of mojácar

For those new to the area, Mojácar (pronounced 'mo-hacker') is one of Spain's best kept secrets. Sure it is a beach resort, but also a truly magical historic white washed village on the hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It's beauty will grab your heart and pull you back here time and time again. The village dates back to the Bronze age (2000 BC), although the hill top is not the original village site, and there is a diverse history to be discovered in this beautifully natural part of Spain. Check out this video and you'll see what I mean about how beautiful this village is to the eyes.

Our Traditional Tapas Tour of Mojácar consists of the following:

Usually conducted on the local bus, you will be met off the coach (if travelling from outside the area) or at a local landmark. From there you will be taken by bus or if you are foolhardy enough, on foot, to Mojácar Pueblo - 152 metres/499 ft above sea level - (we use the local buses as they are frequent and it allows us to drink).

  • Personal host in the form of Steve Homer, food photographer, writer and publisher
  • Meet at a landmark on the beach or straight from the bus (playa bus stop)
  • Visit to and a brief history/tour of the village
  • Visits to typical Spanish bars x 2 or 3 for traditional tapas (subject to season), (village and beach locations)
  • Visit to a more creative bar for gastro-tapas (village or beach locations)
  • Discussions regarding the different foods and the local food influence/dishes
  • Wednesday tours include a visit to the local food market*
